Munich 2018 vowed to build on the German Olympic Sports Confederation's (DOSB) 50-year programme of NOC outreach initiatives in Africa at a powerful presentation from a top-level team at the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Extraordinary General Assembly in Lomé, Togo yesterday.

Defending champion Blessing Okagbare yesterday retained her national 100m title winning for the third successive years at the 65th All Nigeria/Cross River State Athletics Championships inside the UJ Esuene stadium in Calabar, Cross Rivers state of Nigeria.

In a shocking revelation on Wednesday in Calabar, President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) stated categorically that ExxonMobil had never sponsored the All Nigeria athletics championship but had supported it as a corporate social responsibility programme.

The trio of former African sprints queen, Mary Onyali-Omagbemi, reigning African 400m record-holder, Falilat Ogunkoya-Omotayo, reigning  African 100m record-holder, Olusoji Adetokunbo Fasuba and others have been listed as Ambassadors of Nigerian athletics during the All-Nigeria/Cross River Track & Field holding this week at the U.J Esuene stadium in Calabar.

Nigerian and African women's 100m champion, Blessing Okagbare has reiterated her desire to defend her national title when she stepped onto the track against former champion, Damola Osayomi at the 2011 All Nigeria Open Track and Field Championship scheduled for the U.J Eusene stadium in Calabar, Cross-River State from Thursday.
