Teams :: Schedules & Results :: Photos :: Watch Online Jepkosgei beats Mutola again Commonwealth Games 800m champion Janeth Jepkosgei Busienei has scored another victory over Mozambican defending champion Maria de Lurdes Mutola. The Kenyan inflicted her third defeat over Mutola this year at the 15th African Athletics Championships in Bambous, Mauritius. Jepkosgei Busienei overtook Mutola with 30 metres to go to finish in 2:00.64 after much work has been done by her compatriot Josephine Nyarunda who set a fast pace to fats for the competition to cope with. Mutola, fondly called the 'Maputo Express', settled for silver just like she did at the Commonwealth games in March in 2:01.08 with Algeria’s Nouria Benida Merah claiming bronze in 2:02.18. Jepkosgei said: "I have been nervous all week and this victory came as a great relief. "Mutola is a very tough customer and is more experienced than me. So without Nyarunda setting the pace it was going to be very difficult for me to beat Mutola." AthleticsAfrica.Com will bring you indepth and extensive coverage from our reporters in Mauritius.
