Frank Fredericks was re-elected as president of Athletics Namibia (AN) following a well-attended elective congress, on Saturday 17th November at the Etuna Guesthouse Conference Centre in Ongwediva.
Fredericks who was nominated to the presidency position will serve his second term as president of one of the leading sports codes in the nation.
During his acceptance speech, Frank Fredericks thanked the outgoing council for setting the foundation in reviving athletics in the country.
He went on to add that the new Council will “call on the expertise and skills of the outgoing council and the nominees that were up for election.
The congress which was officiated by the Namibia Sports Commission and the Directorate of Sport saw a well-balanced group of sports administrators, former athletes and captains of industries being elected. Women represent 40 per cent of the newly-elected council.
