Gaisah shocks all in Paris

Ghana's reigning World Indoor and Commonwealth Games champion Ignisious Gaisah upstaged form books to win the men's Long Jump at the Meeting Gaz de France Paris Saint-Denis, the second leg of the IAAF Golden League series in 2006.

The 23-year-old leaps to a season's best 8.31 metres (+0.2m/s), beating Panama's Irving Saladino, who was second with 8.29 metres and World and Olympic champion Dwight Phillips of USA, third in 8.16 metres.

Gaisah has rose steadily this year, posting an impressive World leading indoor 8.36 metres jump at the GE Galan in Stockholm on February 2nd and another 8.23 metres at the Sparkassen Cup in Stuttgart two days later.

Kenya’s Olympic champion Ezekiel Kemboi claimed the men’s 3000m Steeplechase in a season's best 8:09.29.

Ethiopian World record holder Kenenisa Bekele bursted into the lead with 500m to go, to take the men's 5000m for the second year running in a world season lead 12:51.32.

Ethiopia's World champion Tirunesh Dibaba claimed her second Golden League victory of 2006 with a slight 14:54.24 to 14:54.30 finish ahead of compatriot and World record holder Meseret Defar.
