Ghana's Ignisious Gaisah has won the men's Long Jump gold at the 11th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Moscow.

The 22-year-old snatched the medal with his fourth round jump of 8.30 metres, beating Panama's Irving Saladino, who set a South American area record of 8.29 metres for silver and Italian Andrew Howe who took the bronze with a personal best of 8.19 metres.

Gaisah has rose steadily this year, posting an impressive World leading 8.36 metres jump at the GE Galan in Stockholm on February 2nd and another 8.23 metres at the Sparkassen Cup in Stuttgart two days later..

The Ghanaian travels to Melbourne for the Commonwealth Games now with renewed optimism of breaking the African record of 8.46 metres held by Senegalese Cheick Toure.

South Africa's promising star Godfrey Khotso Mokoena, though sets a new national record with a leap of 8.01 metres, was only good enough for fifth place.
