Months after staging the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships, the Dubai Club for People of Determination will again receive the best athletes in the planet for the first stop of the 2020 Grand Prix circuit between 14 and 17 March.
It will be the fourth consecutive year that the Fazza International Championships open the Grand Prix season.
Next year’s circuit is set to be one of the strongest to date as it will offer the world’s best Para athletes the chance to test their skills on the international level in the lead-up to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
For many, it will also be the final opportunity to achieve qualification for the Paralympics.
Head of World Para Athletics Haozhe Gao said: “We could not be more excited about the upcoming season after a successful World Championships. Many young talents who succeeded at Dubai 2019 had made their international debut at the Grand Prix.
“This has always been one of the main objectives of the Grand Prix; to provide a platform for the development of our sport across all regions.”
Sao Paulo will be the second stop at the Brazilian Paralympic Training Centre from 26-28 March.
The Grand Prix then heads back to Asia with Beijing hosting the eighth China Open between 24 and 26 April at one of the training venues used for the Beijing 2008 Paralympics.
The Charlety Stadium in Paris, France, will receive the first of the three back-to-back European legs in May (6-8) followed by Jesolo, Italy (22-24) and Nottwil, Switzerland (28-30).
The Tunisian capital city of Tunis closes the season from 26-28 June at the 14th edition of the Tunis International Meeting, Africa’s biggest Para athletics competition of the year.
