Hello everyone! Happy New Year and an African welcome to 2016 – the Olympic and Paralympic year – from all of us here at AthleticsAfrica.
Here’s to wish you all, our dear readers, friends, administrators and track and field stakeholders in Africa and around the world a prosperous, successful and joy-filled 2016.
We are all excited about 2016 – Our website is attracting more and more readers in Africa and across the world, and our social media channels have grown exponentially in the last couple of years.
Our Facebook page now has over 7,600 followers; our Twitter page is closing on 7,000 followers while our Youtube page currently have over 500 subscribers.
We look forward to an exciting year filled with top quality track and field events on the continent and rest of the world. We are launching our #RioBound interview series with our athletes highlighting their journey on the #RoadtoRio Olympics this year.
The AthleticsAfrica team will be covering live the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in August. Before then, you can join us for our live coverage of the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, USA in March; the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff, Wales in March; and the CAA Africa Senior Championships in Durban, South Africa in June.
We are also stepping up the activities of our foundation, the Athletics Africa Foundation, and this year, we would be welcoming new trustees to promote and develop a sustainable model for athletics on the continent.
To achieve all this, we count on your continued support, loyalty and readership, as well as sponsorships, to continue to meet our lofty aims and objectives. Kindly reach out to us if you or your organisation would like to partner with us or assist us on this journey.
Once again have a blessed new year and may 2016 bring abundant joy, happiness and prosperity to your homes and businesses.
Best Regards,
