The 2015 Warri Relays/CAA Grand Prix has been rescheduled to July 24, 2015 at the Warri Township stadium in Delta-State of Nigeria, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has confirmed.
The meet director and technical chair of the AFN, Navy Commodore Omatseye Nesiama, said: “This is due to a careful re-assessment and conclusion that the former date would not be to the best interest of our athletes.
“We want the Meet to be a means to work-up the athletes towards the World Championships/All Africa Games National trials, which is scheduled to hold a week later.”
“It is pertinent to note that this system has been the practice in the past 3 years we have been holding the Grand Prix event,” Nesiama added.
The 2015 Warri Relays/CAA Grand Prix, themed ‘Inspiring Fresh Speeds of the Baton’ was initially scheduled to hold on May 18, 2015 at the same venue.
The Warri Relays is a Confederation of Africa Athletics (CAA) Golden Label event.
