Kenya’s 800m world record-holder and Olympic gold medallist, [link id=”198″ tax=”post_tag” text=”David Rudisha”], opened his 2015 season with an impressive 1:45.01 win at the Sydney Track Classic in Australia on Saturday.

Reaching the bell in around 51 seconds, Rudisha took over from his pacemaker, fellow [link id=”81″ tax=”category” text=”Kenyan”] Sammy Tangui, with 300m to go and was never truly challenged to finish 2.37 seconds ahead of Australian Alex Rowe.

David Rudisha, who holds the world mark of 1:40.91 over 800m, says he hopes to better his time at next Saturday’s Melbourne World Challenge meeting, the opening leg of the 2015 IAAF World Challenge.

“I’m really happy with this time today,” said Rudisha. “I’m expecting another good race in Melbourne, I’m hoping for a 1:44.”
