Ghana to host CAA African Athletics Senior Championships 2026

Accra, Ghana has been selected as host of the 24th African Athletics Senior Championships in 2026.

Accra, Ghana has been selected to host the 24th African Athletics Senior Championships in 2026.

The Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) announced after its Council Meeting in Douala, Cameroon on Saturday the results of the voting for the host country among the council members.

The west African nation, which hosted the 13th African Games in March 2024 at the newly-built University of Ghana sports stadium complex in Legon, defeated the rival bid from Botswana by 12 votes to 3 votes.

The Ghana Athletics bid team included Majid Bawa of the National Sports Authority of Ghana, Fuseini Bawah and Charles Osei Asibey of Ghana Athletics federation.
