Kalkaba Malboum lauds Addis Ababa 2015 as ‘best ever African Junior champs’

Organizing partners of the 12th African Junior Athletics Championship said that the 26th CAA Congress and the ongoing championship are the most successful in the championships history.

The Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) President, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, along with the organizing partners of the 12th African Junior Athletics Championship 2015, the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, said that the 26th CAA Congress meeting (held 1-3 March) and the ongoing championships (5-8 March) are the most successful events in the history of the championships.

Speaking at a press conference today in Addis Ababa, Kalkaba Malboum said that the number of crowds attending the African Junior Athletics Championship and the warm welcome are different.

President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, Alebachew Nigussie, said that the government of Ethiopia has allocated the required budget to host the championship and has organized a national committee led by higher government officials and 12 sub-committees

He added that Over 135 delegate members of the [link id=”174″ tax=”post_tag” text=”CAA”] congress and more than 32 countries and a total of over 500 delegates of the championship have taken part on the opening ceremony of the championship.

A total of 209 men, 145 women athletes and 172 officials are taking part on the championship. Ethiopia is now hosting continental athletics championship for the second time after the 16th African Senior Athletics Championship in 2008.

The congress session made different decisions and re-elected Mr [link id=”506″ tax=”post_tag” text=”Hamad Kalkaba Malboum”] as the President of the Confederation of African Athletics. And elected Mr. Alebachew Nigussie, as the President of East African Athletics Zone 5.
