Watch: Genzebe Dibaba sets world indoor 5000m record at XL-Galan 2015

Watch Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba clock 14:18:86 to set a new world indoor 5000m record at the XL-Galan in Stockholm, an IAAF Indoor Permit meeting, on Thursday.

The Ethiopian shaved more than five seconds off the previous mark of 14:24:37 set by her compatriot Meseret Defar on the same Ericsson Globe Arena track in 2009.

Dibaba’s compatriots Birtukan Fente (15:22.56) and Birtukan Adamu (15:34.15) finished in second and third positions respectively.

In 2014, Genzebe Dibaba [link id=”7559″ text=”set world records indoors over 1500m and 3000m”] as well as running the world best time [link id=”7590″ text=”over two miles in Birmingham”].

In other races, Jeremiah Mutai ([link id=”81″ tax=”category” text=”Kenya”]) won the men’s 800m in 1:47.40 and Ethiopian born German Tesfaye Homiyu took the men’s 1500m in 3:34.13, a world leading mark of 3:34.13.
