Steinmetz Gaborone Marathon

The newly named Steinmetz Gaborone Marathon will take place on Sunday April 22, 2012 in Gaborone, Botswana.

The Marathon follows the successful inaugural Gaborone City Marathon in 2010, which was organized by PGM Foundation and saw 2,500 runners taking part. 

Steinmetz Diamonds and PGM Foundation will work closely together to improve the experience for elite athletes, sports fans and spectators, without changing the spirit of the inaugural Marathon. Other major sponsors include Standard Chartered Bank, Phakalane Golf Estate and Hotel Resort, Leo Schachter Diamonds and Richold SA.

The running for charity event will have three races: 42.2km, 10km and 4km Fun Run / Walk. The Marathon is accredited by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and governed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and Botswana Athletics Association (BAA).

The Steinmetz Gaborone Marathon 2012 supports the following official charities: Lady Khama Charitable Trust, Moremogolo Trust, Mothers for All, Seeing is Believing and Y Care Charitable Trus
