The Ghana Athletics Association has received a massive boost ahead of the London Olympic Games following the delivery of a consignment of kits from American sports apparel manufacturer Saucony.
The new equipment, which is made up of competition uniforms, track suits, casual wear, rain gear, shoes, bags among other things, were delivered to the Ghana Athletics Association in London on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
It will be recalled that the athletics governing body begun negotiations with the American outfit during the 2011 World Athletics Championship in Daegu.
No sponsorship
Ghana has been without a Kit sponsor for the last four years after German Kit Manufacturer, Puma, decided not to renew its deal with the Association in 2008 because Ghana reportedly took the sponsorship for granted.
In the past, Puma paid a yearly grant to the Association coupled with performance bonuses for athletes who won medals at major competitions. For instance, at the continental level, national athletes received $5,000 for winning gold, $3,000 for silver and a bronze medalist took home $2,000.
