The Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi will today host the 2012 rlg Ghana Grand Prix as over 45 foreign athletes and 60 locally based Ghanaian athletes compete for honours as part of their tune up for the London Olympic Games.
The Organisers, the Ghana Athletics Association, say expected foreign athletes at the event, which will be the second edition, include an American team comprising Nichole Denby (100m hurdles), Alie Israel (100m/200m), Shericka Mozell (100m/100m hurdles), Jarod Tobler (Long Jump) and Terrell Wilks (100m/200m).
Ghana’s foreign-based athletes and other African stars, many of who were in Benin for the African championships, will also be competing in today's meet.
The 2012 rlg Ghana Grand Prix takes place under the distinguished patronage of President John Evans Atta Mills, and is part of the Ghana Athletics Association’s efforts towards revitalizing athletics in Ghana, and encouraging the young ones to take an interest in the sport.
The Grand Prix is a one-day professionally organized international athletics event, sponsored by rlg Communications.
