Ghanaian sprinter, Aziz Zakari showed why he's top of the African sprints leaderboard with a stunning run to claim a new meet record at the EAA Permit Meeting, Venizelia 2005, in Chania, Greece.

Zakari, 29, won a fast men's 100 metres race in 10.04 seconds - 0.04 seconds outside his personal best.

Another African upcoming star, University of Texas, El Paso graduate Aaron Egbele of Nigeria placed second with a season's best 10.18 seconds whilst Jamaican Patrick Jarrett, training partner of Athens Olympics 100m gold-medalist Justin Gatlin, was third in 10.37 seconds.

Egbele had earlier ran 10.24 seconds at another EAA Permit Meeting, Papafleseia 2005 on May 30th, when another Nigerian athlete Ambrose Ezenwa also ran 10.36 seconds to place second in his 100 metres heat and 20.96 seconds to win his 200 metres heat.
