Kenenisa BekeleYomi Omogbeja (31/12/2004)

Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele has been confirmed for the 2005 indoor season opener in Boston, USA.

Bekele, the only male athlete to improve on a World indoor record last season, will make his competitive debut at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on January 25.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) male athlete of the year for 2004, is expected to run in the 3000m, a distance at which his countryman Haile Gebrselassie set a USA all-comer's record of 7:35.24 in 2004.

Kicking off from where he stopped in 2004, Bekele is set to challenge the 1998 World Indoor record of 7:24.90 set by Kenya's Daniel Komen.
